The purpose of BTEC Higher Nationals in Art and Design is to develop students as professional, self reflecting individuals able to meet the demands of employers in the creative industries sector and adapt to a constantly changing world.
The objectives of the BTEC Higher Nationals in Art and Design are as follows:
● To equip students with art and design skills, knowledge and the understanding necessary to achieve high performance in the global creative industries sector.
● To support students to develop their capacity for creative thinking and to recognise its value in the creative industries and beyond.
● To provide students with the skills to communicate their ideas and creative output through visual, written and oral presentation.
● To provide education and training for a range of careers in creative industries, including Graphic Design, Photography, Fashion, Textiles, Product Design, Interior Design, and Arts Practice.
● To provide students with an understanding of the way technologies are transforming the creative industries, and prepare them to work with these technologies.

Interior Design program is an accredited program by the English Institute BTEC Pearson.
What is BTEC Pearson?
Pearson is a world leader in teaching, with expertise in curriculum and assessment, and a range of teaching-related services. Pearson works closely with governments, teachers, students, researchers, authors, and local experts to put education in the hands of more people around the world, making it more inspiring. BTEC is part of Pearson.
The BTEC Qualifications are the most popular professional qualifications in the UK and are successfully offered across the globe by Pearson Qualifications International. BTEC Centers comply with all BTEC policies and regulations.
BTEC degrees are internationally recognized higher education qualifications at levels 4 and 5 that are equivalent to the first and second years of a bachelor’s degree.
Pearson Diploma and Universum College
Universum College is the only center in Kosovo approved by Pearson to offer the Design and Nursing programs of this Institution in the country. Upon completion, Universum College students receive a degree from BTEC Pearson which is recognized in Kosovo and abroad.
Pearson Diploma and MASH
Since 2016 BTEC Pearson and MES have collaborated for high quality professional development in Kosovo.
Students from Universum College can go to study abroad for 4 to 5 months.
WHO CAN APPLY?
All students who are enrolled as students at Universum College may apply for Erasmus+ Mobility Programs. Study exchange opportunities are available to each study cycle:
– First study cycle (Bachelor or equivalent)
– Second study cycle (Master or equivalent)
– Third study cycle (Doctoral level)
Please note that Erasmus Student Mobility is carried out in the framework of Inter-Institutional Agreements between home (Universum) and host institutions (universities where you wish to apply for a semester). This means that before being able to apply, you should check whether Universum College has a partnership with the university where you wish to continue your studies. To do this, have a look at the list of universities with whom we collaborate.

Graduates successfully completing the BTEC Higher National Certificate in Art and Design will be able to demonstrate a sound knowledge of the basic concepts of art and design. They will be able to communicate accurately and appropriately and they will have the qualities needed for employment that requires some degree of personal responsibility. They will have developed a range of transferable skills to ensure effective team working, independent initiatives, organisational competence and problem solving strategies. They will be adaptable and flexible in their approach to Art and Design, show resilience under pressure, and meet challenging targets within a given resource.
In addition to the academic staff, students are also assisted by tutors. The purpose of tutoring is to help students develop strategies that help them consolidate their knowledge, develop transferable learning skills, and achieve academic success. The role of a tutor is to enable Fashion Design students to acquire their knowledge using the best way of learning. The ultimate goal is to help students discover that they are learning better and to help students develop their skills to achieve better educational outcomes. In case students need additional support and academic assistance tutors are informed immediately. In this way the academic performance of the students is closely monitored.
Universum College provides students with a range of resources and services to support their teaching and research. The library has a wide range of collections, services and facilities that support college-taught courses, including books, magazines and a wide range of electronic resources.
Together with the library, students learn in practice in our Graphic Design Laboratories where computers are equipped with ArchiCad, autoCad, Illustrator, Photoshop, 3D Max, etc. programs.
Universum College wants to do everything possible to help students stay active, happy and engaged both in and out of class.
Attached to classrooms and labs, students conduct various study visits. These visits include visits to various Fashion Design companies, Visits to the National Gallery of Arts and the National Museum, etc.
To gain different knowledge from the industry, the College organizes “Coffee Lectures” where well-known personalities from the creative industries are invited to chat with students and to tell about their experience in the profession.
In addition to these activities students are engaged in various exhibitions and competitions to showcase their work.

Universum College as part of the activities organized the “Coffee Lecture Series” with various experts in the field of fashion. Students are learning from experts and their experience in the field of design and fashion.

Gifts for children in SOS village
Universum College students from design department delivered gift boxes to children in SOS Village. The students made some accessories, postcards and other gifts all handmade.

The normal minimum entry requirements for a candidate to be eligible for admission to the College’s courses are set out in the General Entry Requirements contained in the Prospectus. However, the absolute minimum criteria for a student to be admitted to this academic program, is that all students are expected to have successfully completed high school and have passed the national test (matura). In addition, in order to be enrolled in our program, all applicants are required to bring the following documents:
- Birth certificate
- Diploma and secondary school certificate
- Legalized documents issued by the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology of the Republic of Kosovo for all those who have completed their education outside of the Republic of Kosovo
- Completing the application procedures at Universum College
- The contract of the study program if they meet eligibility criteria
