Universum faculty appointed Minister of Public Administration

Ms. Edita Tahiri, Lecturer in Public Administration and International Relations at Universum Institute was appointed Minister of Public Admministration at Kosovo Government.

Ms. Tahiri is a graduate of Harvard University and holds a Master Degree in Public Administration from John F. Kennedy School of Government (2002), under the tutorship of distinguished professor Joseph Nye. She also received a certificate in Public Policy and Management from Edward S. Mason Program of the same school in 2002. For excellence in her studies she was awarded the title of “Stellar student of 2002” of John Kennedy School of Government Public Service Fellowship as well as received the Edward S. Mason’s Certificate in Recognition of Extraordinary Contribution. She is PhD candidate in University of Prishtina in conjunction with American university Johns Hopkins-SAIS, under the mentorship of distinguished professors William Zartman and Alan Kuperman. She was a Fulbright Scholar at Johns Hopkins University- SAIS (2006-2007).

Edita Tahiri (July 29, 1956) is a leader, politician, diplomat and negotiator who made significant contribution for great political changes in Kosova and in the region of Southeastern Europe since the end of Cold War. She was one of the founders and main leaders of the movement for independence and self-determination of Kosova (1991-1999). She is particularly noted for her extensive work on internationalization of the question of Kosova and the Albanians as the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kosova (1991-2000) and negotiator at the Conference of Rambouillet (1999). She is a member of Kosova Parliament serving her fourth mandate and also held many other state and political responsibilities. As an experienced politician, who has devoted about 20 years to Kosova’s pursuit of freedom, independence and democracy, she skillfully incorporates her personal experience in foreign policy and politics in her academic work.
